The fact that you know your business best makes it easier for you to market your brand. You know where your company is located, the hours of operation and what differentiates your products and services from similar products and services already on the market, but your target audience doesn’t. They don’t even know if they can trust you and your employees. They don’t know if your ads are empty promises, if you’ll take their money only to leave them disillusioned and disappointed.
Surprising things that help or hurt as you market your brand
As Entrepreneur shares, “Marketing is all about the kind of experience you deliver to your customers with each and every interaction. The more compelling the experience, the faster you will build brand loyalty.” Set clear worker policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure customers have a winning service experience each time they interact with your business. This includes outlining a clear dress code, establishing and enforcing strict start and end work times for each shift.
If you don’t think service is critical to building a strong brand, recall a time when you visited a restaurant, were made to wait for 15 or more minutes just to be greeted by a waiter only to have to wait another 40 minutes to be served your meal. You loved the food; it was absolutely delicious. But, at the end of your meal you had to wait another 20 minutes to receive your bill. As good as the food (product) was, with service that bad, would you come back?
In addition to great service, other easy ways to market your brand include:
- Sell quality products
- Ask customers for testimonials (post testimonials on your website, social media networks, etc.)
- Give customers discounts for bringing you new business
- Write and distribute press releases
- Create attention grabbing business logos
- Add logos to all correspondence (in addition to logos, decide on 1 to 2 colors to use in all business correspondence; stick to these colors)
- Spice up your business website with a blog (it’s a great way to keep your website content fresh)
Be consistent. Keep in mind that developing great products and offering customers great service (each and every time) are critical as you build and market your brand.
