Increase Customer Purchases by Making it Easy for Website Visitors to Buy from You

How to Make it Easy for Website Visitors to Complete Customer Purchases

Believe it or not, this may happen to your website visitors more than you realize. As a creative business leader, you know where your checkout counter is, but as it is at brick and mortar stores, everyone who visits your website does not automatically know where to pay for their customer purchases.

  • To make it easy for customers to buy your products design your website with enough white spaces (areas where there is no text or graphics).
  • Place order buttons at the top and bottom of your website pages.
  • Use sliding guides that alert customers on how to purchase your products in one to three simple steps.
  • Add a shopping cart or checkout icon next to secure checkout links.

More Ways to Make it Easy for Customers to Buy Your Creative Business Products

You can increase consumer trust by adding security logos to your website. For example, we use SiteLock Secure at Write Money Inc. (http://www.writemoneyinc.) and Secure Domain Encryption at (http://www.chistell.com).

Akin to computer software security programs (e.g. Norton Anti-Virus, Trend) these programs run periodic checks on websites to ensure they are safe, clean of viruses, etc. We also use secure servers to process customer information. By highlighting product/service guarantees your company offers, you can also increase consumer trust.

Other ways you can make it easy for customers to buy your products include:

  • Adding customer testimonials next to specific products customers rave about. Also consider adding a page dedicated to customer testimonials at your company website.
  • Include links to order pages in emails and newsletters. Keep these links in a centralized location so readers become familiar with them.
  • Ask relatives and friends to visit your business website and walk thru it, being sure to note areas where they got confused about “what to do next” while at the company website
  • Follow up with customer surveys to find out which navigation features at your website are easiest for customers to follow. Also survey customers to find out which website navigation features presented challenges for customers
  • Include customer service chat features at your website so website visitors can click on the chat and get immediate answers to questions from a customer service representative without having to click away from your business website

As a creative business leader, make sure that you visit your website as well, especially before you publish recent changes and updates made to your company website. This and the other mentioned steps may save you lots of money. You definitely want to take these steps before you run sales or ads.

Very interesting article and so true. Make it easy for the customer. I find people/businesses make a website but then do nothing to try and improve their web site. Many people/businesses have no idea how to increase sales on your website. There are so many wev sites that need improving to give the customer a better experience.

I like the idea of having family and friends walk thru your website first and letting you know how easy they find it to locate your shopping carts, navigate thru your web pages, etc.
